Past and Present

Morning Glory Farm was established in 1986. In 1987 Wedgewood was born. Wedgewood was by the German Elite Hanoverian stallion Waldgott (Waldhorn, Waidmannsdank xx, Gotthard, Lugano II)out of the Hanoverian mare Domonique (Dueker, Duellant, Lombard). Wedgewood was a pleasure to ride and work with. His wonderful temperament and desire to please won my heart over. His athletic ability made difficult dressage movements seem easy and we had many happy riding years together. Although we both preferred dressage, Wedge was a talented jumper and enjoyed the times he could go jump cross country. He is retired from riding now but he continues to pass on his outstanding qualities to his offspring.

In 1993 we acquired our first Connemara, the 2 year old colt Fiddler's Glory Boy. Glory Boy's sire was the famous Connemara stallion, Grange Finn Sparrow. At just over 14.1h Grange could jump anything. He won several titles in Europe and America and he passed his incredible jump onto his son Glory Boy. Glory Boy not only could jump but he had a typical Connemara attitude, laid back, knew his job and did it supremely. He was so quiet at shows that people would come for a closer look to make sure he was really a stallion. He was sold in 2000 and went to Puerto Rico to become a jumper mount for an eight year old girl. He has had a very successful career in PR.

In 1999 Morning Glory's Ilyushin was born. He was by Glory Boy out of Tullymor's Lizzie MacLynch. Ilyushin is a gem of a horse. He is not only beautiful, a buckskin dun with four white stockings, star and snip, but he came with a sweet personality. His first foal crop produced color, great movement and excellent conformation. His son, Morning Glory's Katmandu was the Silver medal winner at the 2002 American Warmblood Society (AWS) testing at Fairview Farm. And in 2003 his son Morning Glory's Sniper was Year End Gold Medal Winner with the AWS in the pony division. Ilyushin was sold to Muffy Seaton, Four Fleas Farm in 2002. At Muffy's Ilyushin was trained to do combined driving. After a short career he went onto his new home with Caroline Nesbitt. In 2008 Ilyushin's first purebred foal crop arrived.  Ilyushin is still a major part of the breeding program at Morning Glory Farm.

Ilyushin was named 2005 AWS Pony of the Year!!

So we had bred Hanoverians and Connemaras and crossed the two with Thoroughbreds. Then in 1996 we decided to cross a Connemara mare with our Hanoverian stallion. We were ecstatic when Morning Glory's Rebel Yell (Willie) was born. He had it all! He became my #1 riding horse and we set out to breed primarily Warmblood Connemara crosses. We cross the Connemaras with Hanoverians and Dutch Warmbloods. All of our foals are tested with the AWS. We have produced Supreme foals, Blue Preferred and year end award winners. None of our foals have scored less than Red Preferred. The Connemara Warmblood cross is talented enough to do upper level dressage and has a great jump but you don't need a lift ticket to get on their backs. They are happy in the ring or out on trail and are rugged and versatile enough to handle both.
